WOW embossing powder DT-call!!

Tonight I'm leaving for CHA! Very exciting! I will spent de night at Schiphol Airport and fly tomorrow morning.

I kind of freaked out this morning... when checking in online I got a message that the bank had not confirmed my payment and I could not continue check-in. Whaaattt??? I booked this flight in september, I have a confirmation, what the...???

It appeared to be a failure on the KLM website and all was fine, pfffff!

Anyway... Im very happy and excited to announce that I'm now an endorsed educator for WOW embossing powder! How cool is that??! The WOW and Suzy West collection is truly amazing. A huge variety of colors in gloss and puff, fine and regular and Ultra High. There is always a powder that fits your project!

Covered in silver, a project for WOW embossing powder

I never thought that such a "simple" idea would inspire so many people, but like someone once told me, sometimes it's the simplest ideas that inspire the most!

Today I want to share with you a project I created for WOW Embossing Powder!

I turned a little white tea box into a silver plated jewelry box. I used the brocade stamp on a white wooden box and embossed it with Metallic Silver Regular. I also embossed the flower and the leaves.

Workshops and a layout for Tattered Angels

Back home from my weekend at Scrap4fun where I have been teaching my workshop "The whole Shebang" 2 days. I really had a great time and I hope my students did too. It was quite an intens workshops with lots of techniques and we had to work fast, no time to sit back and relax :) But I think in the end most was done or could be finished at home.

 

Vera and her team where fantastic, the hotel was wonderful and I sure would love to go back there and teach again. For now Vera and agreed on the weekend of september 15th and this time I will teach a couple of 3/3,5 hour workshops. More information about that as soon as we know more!!

And now on to the next. I will be leaving for CHA in only 11 days, eeekkkk!! And there is a LOT that has to be done before I can leave! Today I spent most of the time preparing kits for my workshops at Treasured Memories in Oak Park, near LA, where I will teach these 2 workshops on January 28th:

I will leave you today with a layout I made for the Tattered Angels blog.

I created the background paper with embossing powder, distress ink and glimmer mist.

First I stamped and embossed the circles with white embossing powder, which created a resist. Then I sprayed the background with Glimmer Mist Sun Sisters. Mel’s Diner and Harvest Orange. The Silk flowers are sprayed with Cadillac Pink and the roses with Marmalade.

For the diamonds I used a mask and distress ink that I applied with blending foam. I finished the backgound stamping with black Stazon. The crystals where colored in the right color with Letraset Aquamarkers. Flowers, crystals, fabric leaves are Prima Marketing Inc. The border was created using Prima packaging material.

Workshop update and a WOW layout!

Just a quick update. I’m in my hotel in Capelle aan de IJssel. It’s Friday the 13th.

My day went pretty well so far, hope yours is too! I will be teaching at Scrap4fun tomorrow and Sunday.

Just had a lovely dinner and the Scrap4fun DT is coming over here to meet up and have a drink together in about an hour. That will be fun!

About my workshop “The whole Shebang” that I will be teaching here… I had several people asking me if I would be teaching this workshop in my own studio in Winsum too, and yes I will!

 

A 15x15cm mini-album filled with techniques. We will be using gesso, acrylic paints, spray paints, distress inks, alcohol inks, aquamarkers, masks, stamps, embossing powders etc. on a variety of surfaces like wood, cardstock, metal foil, canvas, felt and transparencies, or in short, you will get the whole shebang! The workshop is scheduled for Saturday, march 24. Time: 10.00-17.00 Price: € 57.50 (lunch, drinks and snacks included)

So this week I posted on the WOW! Embossing powder blog for the first time. Very exciting!!

 

I love to create with little strips and blocks of paper in different colors and with different patterns. I'm always left with a lot of scraps, big scraps, because sometimes I only use a one inch strip of a whole sheet of paper. Recognize that?

So why not create your own patterned paper and bring 1 single sheet of cardstock to great value?

For this layout I cut half a sheet of white cardstock into strips of different sizes. I stamped the strips with a variety of stamps and embossed them with different colors.

The tickets and leaves where also stamped on white cardstock and embossed.

The little butterflies are actually part of a flower stamp (Gratitude) of which I only used the top part. I applied them to the layout with staples so I could bend the wings.

Behind the picture you find a cake cup that was embossed with the same color which gives it a nice structure. I also did that with the flower.

The chipboard letters where first embossed with puff powder and then covered with fine clear embossing powder.

Supplies used:

WOW! Embossing Powders: Suzy West Whirly Pop, Tea Garden Green, California Sunshine, Bay Area Blue, Presidio Purple, Skyline Grey Puff and Clear Gloss Super Fine.

WOW! stamps: Brocade and Gratitude

Patterend paper and chipboard letters: Basic Grey, Flower: Prima Marketing inc., letterstickers: Lily Bee design, Other: Kraft cardstock, cake cup, black pen, Adhesives: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.

Finally!!

Finally... here is my first post of 2012!

Way to late, I know, but still I want to wish you all a wonderful, healthy, happy, inspiring, creative and colorful new year, may it be filled with loads of moments worth remembering!!

I have a LOT to share. I've been busy creating for CHA and DT's and spend the last 2 days preparing kits for my "Whole Shebang"- workshop this upcoming weekend.

Two day-workshops with 24 participants each day, that is a lot of cutting, punching and gathering together :) But the kits are as good as done so today I created a canvas for the Tattered Angels booth at CHA, that I can't share yet. Tease, tease... :)

What I can share is a set of tags I created for the Tattered Angels blog last month.

The assignment was to lift projects form our fellow DT-members. 

For my tags I was inpsired by this little book made by Vicky Chrisman. She used Resist papers from TA and Pink Paisley to create this colorful mini book. I love how the white prints make the colors pop.

In stead of a mini album I created a set of tags that can be used on layouts or cards later. To achieve the same effect I stamped and embossed with clear embossing powder on white cardstock and then sprayed them with bright colors:

Materials used: Glimmer Mist Key Lime Pie, Dragonfly, Olive Vine, Sun Sisters, Black Cherry, Burnt Red.

I have much more to share but I won't do it all at once :)

Later this week I will announce a couple of workshops in my own studio like "The whole Shebang", For the Love of Masking and a new canvas workshop. So if you are interested, check back later.

I've got my own little Christmas angel!

Yesterday evening at the schools Christmas play our little girl had one of the leading roles for which she had to sing solo in front of a loaded church. She was Tikai, a little angel who was wondering if all the loud singing, the overdone dressing, all the gold and silver and the perfect hairdressing is really neccesary with Christmas. She asked if being who we are isn't good enough, and if there isn't something much more important about Christmas. Proud mommy here! :) Watch the video to see our own little Christmas angel sing. She will be right after the loud singing. :)

 

 

Wherever and whoever you are I hope you have your own personal angel. Whether it's you partner, your child, your parent, a friend, a friendly neighbor... I hope this person brings light to your life!

What a wonderful day!

Today I celebrated my birthday and it was such a wonderful day!

I had a lot of visitors and was soooo spoiled!!! Also I was overwhelmed by all the sweet wishes i got on facebook, by e-mail and sms! Thank you all for that!

I was amazed by the number of people that played along for the give-away. 146!!

And now I will make this a lovely day for someone else too. I entered the amount of comments I got on the give-away post in Random.org under super vision of my son Lennart and it decided that the winner is number 36!
