... and what have we done? A lot!!! (warning: looooong post!! :))
On Saturday I went over to Marja's to do the demonstration I talked about in my last post. It was a fun and busy day, we laughed a lot!! :)
On Sunday we went over to my brother in law in Borger, who celebrated his birthday.
In the morning my mom called me to tell me that she had seen some gorgeous fly amanita's near the town hall in Winsum, so when we drove to Borger we stopped by there to take some pictures.
In the evening my other BIL came home with us because of the traditional annual Baaistemaart (Beestenmarkt/ animal market) that is hold here in Winsum every year on the third Monday in October. The evening before, on Sunday, people go out to the bars and cafés to celebrate Petjemarkt (Pet market... not that there are any pets there, hehe!).
So DH and BIL took Anne and a girlfriend out and made sure they got back home not to late. On Monday morning we went to the market, had coffee in a café and went home around lunchtime to eat the traditional snert (dutch pea soup). Later the afternoon we went back into the village. It was gorgeous weather and the terraces where filled with people. At dinner time we went with a group of people to the Chinese restaurant and had a lovely meal.
On Tuesday morning Erik had to work and I had to pack our bags for a few days away. I brought Marlijn over to my mom where she would stay the day and the night because Erik and I went out for dinner in the evening. Anne and Lennart stayed home together. When Erik and I both turned 40 we got a dinner voucher for "De Koperen Hoogte" That is an old water tower that is turned into a hotel/restaurant. The restaurant is in the top and rotates around it's own axis in 3 hours and during that time we had a wonderful dinner and a spectacular view.
On Wednesday morning we drove Anne and Lennart to Borger. Their grandparents had invited them and their 2 cousins (my PIL's oldest 4 grandchildren) to spend 3 days with them in a wigwam in Slagharen (Amusement parc). Just before we left Lennart went into his aviary to feed his birds and they all came to sit on his head and shoulders. Such a fun sight and worth a picture:
While my BIL took the kids to Slagharen Erik, Marlijn and I went to De Bilt where we had booked a hotel for 3 days.
We brought our bikes and had a great couple of days visiting Utrecht by bike, wandering in the woods of the Utrecht's Landschap, great food and swimming in the hotel pool.
I never realized that Utrecht is such a gorgeous city with all the canals and beautiful houses. I loved it and those few day where not nearly enough to see it all, so I guess we'll have to get back there some day :) We did some shopping too. I needed some birthday decorations from HEMA but couldn't resist checking the sewing section :) Just had to take these, who sais they're for sewing only???
On Friday morning after breakfast and checking out of the hotel we went to the "Dick Bruna Huis", a museum about Dick Bruna and all the characters he created like Nijntje (Miffy) which was fun!
Then we drove up to Borger again to pick up Anne and Lennart who had had a wonderful time with there cousins and grandparents and went home.
Unfortunately I started to feel not very well in Thursday and it got worse on Friday and on Saturday I felt like staying in bed. But I had to clean the house, make beds and prepare for Marlijn's birthday.
My sweet little girl turned 6! yesterday! Of course we celebrated all day and she was the shining center, loving all the attention and the presents and everything.
So, and today everything is supposed to be normal again. All the kids back to school, Erik working and me cleaning and tidy up... except that I still feel sick and don't feel like tidy up at all!!! So that has to wait, at least until tomorrow. I don't suppose the work will walk away... :( Meanwhile I'm having a quiet, easy day!
Somewhere during this last week (I think it was Sunday or Monday evening) I made these:
I'm not a jewelry maker, I always buy my necklaces and bracelets ready made. Often the quality is not the best and after a while they break. I had a couple of little baggies lying around with beads and chains and charms waiting to become necklaces again... But like I said, I'm not a jewelry maker and I never came to it. Now I see these fun bag hangers and key hangers everywhere and I thought they would look great on the back a mini album. And then I remembered all those goodies lying around and decided to make some myself. And I love how they turned out, I guess there will be more since they are made easy while watching tv :)
And last but not least another LO to show. This is quite an old one and I have no idea why I didn't show it since it's one of my favorites. Even though I wasn't feeling really happy when I made this picture. Anne and I just had a huge argument and she was so upset that she didn't want to wait for the train together with with us, warm inside but stayed outside al alone.
Journaling sais: Hiking in the mountains fo Switzerland... with parents that don't understand anything about you... At least you still got your cell phone!
OK, think I'm finally done now :)
If you read this whole post... thank you for your time!!
Have a nice week!
