Here is finally my CHA impressions post. I have many pictures so I will do the minimum of writing as this is going to be a long post.
First of all I tried to spot trends for the upcoming year. There were a couple of things that I saw a lot but I can't say that they were new or surprising.
Typewriters and globes, as stamps, wood veneer shapes, chipboard and stickers. I think they are fun!
Still very popular: wood veneer shapes. I saw them everywhere. But not only as embellishments! You will find wood veneer as 12x12 backgrounds for scrapbooking and of the page projects and also I saw a lot of frames. And I can't help it... still LOVE wood veneer :)
Chalkboard: I think this is going to be hot this year. Chalkboard was everywhere! I saw it as background paper, as embellishements, banners, in mini albums, as signs and trays and paints.... you name it!
Not new but obviously still hot... cameras. (Almost) Every scrapbook brand or stamp company had at least one thing with a camera. Background paper, die cuts, stickers and a lot of camera stamps!
These were the most obvious trends in scrapbooking I think. I have to say I was a bit disappointed in the new scrapbooking lines in general. A lot of the same.... same colors, same prints, not much that stood out to me (with a few exception that I will show later in this post). I don't know what it is, maybe I'm just not that much into patterened paper anymore?
Now on to some new stuff that I really, really liked.
Starting with my friend Nathalie Kalbach's new released mixed media stamps for Stampendous! I LOVE them! And I'm not saying this because Nat is my friend! Just look at them! They are perfect for any type of mixed media art, wether it is art journaling or creating canvasses and more. You can find more about them here!
I guess a lot of you know Goosebumps already. A clear texture spray from Imagine Crafts (Tsukineko) that creates a resist and is pretty cool. So not really new but... they now also have this colored! They are calles irRESISTible and they are awesome! Look at the bright and warm colors. Nat and I had a chance to try them and we loved them!
I also really liked Heidi Swapp's Color Shine and stencils.
And Dina Wakley's new acrylic paints. Very smooth and high pigmented. Lovely colors!
She also has a whole range of lovely stamps and tools!
Awesome find: Mon Ami Gabby. They have beautiful verlvet ribbon, vellum paper and crystal mats that can be... die cut!! Just imagine the possibilities!
Another lovely surprise was Hazel & Ruby. Although they don't want to be seen as a scrapbooking brand but rather as a DIY brand with items for home decor, gift wrapping and much more I found they have some of the most beautiful products that can be used in scrapbooking like the big sticky masks, printed tissue paper and Fat Role Washi Tapes.
I have always loved Jillibean Soup! I have been a guest designer for them and love to use their products in my workshops. Did you know they have a DT-call going on right now? There are still a few days left to enter! You can find all about it here!
If I had say about 8 more hours in every day I would definitely give it a try, but I just don't have the time. If you do have some room in your schedule then give it a go! Jilliebean products are beautiful and of great qualitiy. I love their Placemats and the new Wood Sprinkles!
And last but not least comes Cosmo Cricket! I love the storing solutions like mason jars with different lids to choose from and lovely knobs. I also love the clip hanger and the vellum paper stacks with beautifully printed vellum (like gold and glitter, with lovely designs) size 12x12.
That's it for today! I will be back later with a post about the social aspects of CHA and the lovely Art Retreat following after the show.
Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!
