This morning I read an article in the news paper that said that we should put billboards at the dutch borders saying "Please do not disturb"! LOL! Holland has gone crazy! Today we're playing the first game of this World Championship soccer (against Denmark) and the whole country is up-side-down. Everything is orange. Dutch people love orange! Every oppertunity we get to turn the country orange we take. And soccer is the number one (followed by ice skating). People take a whole or a half day of work today to watch the game. Or the employers provide tv screens at work for the employees to watch together. In the departure halls at Schiphol airport they build a little stadion with big screens... and whole blocks of streets are covered in orange (not ours though, LOL, we think all the craziness is fun but the only thing we do is dress up Marlijn and watch the game, haha!)
Anne and Lennart have a special WC schedule in school today. All lessons will be 45 minutes in stead of 60 so even the kids with a long day on monday will be ready in time to watch the game. They have the choice to either go home or watch the game at school on a big screen in the canteen.
At Marlijn's school (primary) at least half of the kids were dressed in orange already this morning and probably a lot more will be this afternoon :) They will also be watching the game together.
So, of course Marlijn got all dressed up too this morning:
And lucky me has just the right papers to scrap these pictures *winK*wink* :)
We dutchies are a little crazy... I know...
GO HOLLAND GO!!!!
Smiles,
Birgit
P.s. Please do not disturb between 1.30 - 3.30 p.m., thank you!!!
