As you might know Gelli Plate printing is one of my favorite techniques at the moment and I love to use stencils and masks.
I happen to own this fun Sizzix die "birds on a wire" that I love and I thought it would be a perfect one to use with the Gelli Plate.
I die cut it from cardstock, but if you want to use it over and over again it might be a good idea to die cut it from template sheets like The Crafter's Workshop is selling, or you can use a sturdy plastic like packaging material.
In this case I ended up using the die cut itself on my page so it was a good thing I used cardstock :)
So, in the first 2 pages I used the birds as a mask. After creating a light colored background I added a darker color to my gelli plate and placed the birds on top of the paint before making the print.
The bird image on the next page happened when I removed the die cut from the gelli plate after doing the first 2 prints and then only the outline was left in paint on the plate. I have to work some more on this print but I love that outline!
And then the birds ended up having this nice purple paint on them and I thought they would fit perfectly on this last page so i just glued them on :)
Unfortunately this specific die is no longer available at Sizzix, such a shame! But here you will find something similar: Bower birds.
Oh or how about this one: Birds in flight, just awesome! This is going on my wishlist!!
Now, writing this post made me want to create some more with my gelli plate so that is what I am going to do right now!
Thanks for stopping by!
Happy crafting,
Love,
