Hi everyone! It's Crew Member Wednesday and we have Linda today showing how you can create a lovely pen holder from a cardboard tea box. What a great way of recycling and creating an eye-catcher on your desk!

Hello !

Today I want to share a project where I’ve recycled a cardboard box used for teabags. Here is an overview over material used.

To prepare the box for paint I covered it with a thin layer of white gesso

While the gesso was drying I stamped some flowers and leaves in various colors and ink.

To add colors to the stamped images, I painted acrylic paint on one side, leaving this as the backside of the image.

When the gesso was dry I added a color to the box, I choose yellow, mixed with white.

I used soft gel medium to glue the flowers and text to the box, decorating all 4 sides

Here I’ve used texture paste with a mask to add some texture.

31 Days Of Gel Printing Challenge

It is no secret that I LOVE Gel printing with my Gelli Arts® gel printing plate and one of my favorite things to do is to teach Gel printing classes and get other people excited and fall in love with their Gel plate too!
As with most things, to become an experienced Gel printer you have to PLAY, EXPERIMENT and PRACTISE! Over and over and over again. To get to know your Gel plate, learn how certain techniques work and get an idea of what you can expect, you HAVE to get your plate out and use it!

A lot of times my students tell me they have a Gel plate, tried it once or twice and were not overly excited with the results. But hey, what can you expect after only a couple of attempts?
So, I decided to challenge you! I made a list of 31 prompts (find the list below), going from techniques or products to use, to color combinations and shapes. During the month of March, I will post (on my Instagram feed) a Gel print created with these prompts every day and I hope you will join me.
I know, for sure, that after those 31 days, you will love your Gel plate as much as I do. Because, as in every relationship, you have to work for it, commit to it and also accept that it might not, nor has too, always be perfect.

Already a gel printing expert? Then please join too! I would love to see what you create and you might get some new ideas or step out of your comfort zone along the way!

Crew member Wednesday With Hermien

It's Crew Member Wednesday again and today Hermien is sharing some beautiful tags using bleach!!! I just love the colors!

Gift tags

..once in a while such tags come in handy, as an attachment to a bouquet or a self packed gift...So when I found four scraps of paper, they called out to become...

Unfortunately, or maybe not..the paper was a little thin, I used Brusho pigment powder and sprayed with water...It's always a surprise what happens! Took my new stampset by Birgit and embossed the lovely feathers (black embossingpowder).. then I bleached parts of the cards (ordinary bleach with a small brush - rinse well as soon as you are ready because bleach and brushes are not best friends ☺)

When dry  I distressed the paper edges and glued the scraps onto other scraps..and attached eyelets and a little rope.

Het Hippe Workshopplein - Crea Weekend Rijswijk - 6-8 april 2018

For my Dutchies:
Tijdens het Crea Weekend in Rijswijk van 6-8 april kun je op het Hippe Workshopplein (in de Broodfabriek in Rijswijk) terecht voor leuke, korte, inspirerende workshops. Van Scrapbooking en Project Life tot Handlettering en Art Journaling, er is voor elk wat wils! Je kunt je vanaf a.s. maandag 19 februari 2018, 19.00 uur inschrijven voor een plekje Het Hippe Workshopplein. Mis het niet! 

Zelf geef ik op vrijdag 6 april de workshop Gelli Print Technieken. De workshop duurt 1,5 uur waarin je een kleurrijk tag albumpje maakt met verschillende gelli print technieken. Het boekje is super leuk om fotootjes in te plakken, de achtergrondjes te gebruiken om op te handletteren of als basis om op te art journalen. Je kunt op 3 verschillende tijden aanschuiven, dus kom lekker "kliederen"met acrylverf, pigment inkt en wateroplosbare krijtjes!

Crew Member Wednesday With Karin

Hi, Happy Valentine's Day and welcome to Crew Member Wednesday. Today it's Karin's turn and she is sharing some awesome prompt cards! What are prompt cards you ask? Well, they are meant to spark your inspiration. On the back you can writes prompts, products and/or colors (one on each card) and when you need a little help getting creative you randomly take 3 cards and use them as a starting point. Love it!

Hi, it's Karin here!

For today's post I made some colourful prompt cards. Sometimes they come in handy  when you don’t know how to start your creative play. I laminated the cards so they will stay this lovely for a longer time :)

And this is how I made them:

1  I started with a little round gelliplate, an Art Printing Plate, a brayer and some paint

2  I used a lot of different colors making gelliplate circles

3  I cut out the circles

4  I  cleaned my brayer on  a piece of paper and liked it so much , I decided to use that as a background paper for the hearts

5 And because its valentine’s day today I cut the circles into hearts ;)

6  after that I glued the hearts on the backgroundpaper

7 I outlined the hearts with a black pencil

8  Then I stamped a lot of different stamps on the paper and colored them in with acrylic paint markers. At the end I cut the paper in little cards and laminated them.

 

 I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial and got inspired to create your own prompt cards!

Crew Member Saturday With Revlie

Hi there! It's the first Saturday of the month (can't believe it's February already!) and that means that one of my Guest Crew Members is here to inspire you! Today it's Revlie with a gorgeous little booklet. I am in LOVE with Revlie's little books and her use of color and this one is no exception. And ohhhh those cute little butterflies made from Fimo clay.... Watch the video to see how she made them. Enjoy!

hi! Revlie from the Netherlands! I am honored to be part of Birgit’s Art Crew as a Guest Designer and I’ll make a new project every 3 months!

I’ve had this Fimo Clay lying on my desk, which is actually my daughters ;), and I figured it would be fun to A) use it as an embellishment and B) use Birgits’ stamps on it! and the butterfly stamps from the set “Je connais une fleur” were just perfect for that!

 

So here’s a fun little video how I made these clay butterfly embellishments & a cute and quick mini-album! Have fun creating!
