Hi everyone! It's Crew Member Wednesday and we have Linda today showing an altered deck of cards that allowed her to do a little creative something while traveling through Japan (oh my, how lucky is she!!??). I think this is an awesome idea :)

Hello !

Today I just have a short introduction to my video. Right now I’m on a 3 week trip to Japan and with limited space for creating when travelling, I needed something that was small and easy to take with me. I’ve altered a deck of cards, 52 single cards all ready for the last touches when I’m on the road. Hope you enjoy the video and hopefully it can inspire you to do something similar when you have limited space, both in what you can bring with you and where you are creating.

Crew Member Wednesday With Hermien

It's Crew Member Wednesday again and today Hermien is showing how she turned a brochure she received in the mail into a lovely little art journal! How cool is that?!!

Hellooo!

This is our last month in our house, we are moving in april! Facebook knows about these plans because there are lots of advertisements for new furniture popping up and thats why I choose a little interieur decorating flyer I received in my IRL maibox to turn into a small journal.

I like to show you how to make this and what you can do with one background technique.

At first I removed the staples and pages and gessoed the whole cover roughly, dried and used an old creditcard to spread some paint. Then I glued some washi tape and stamped the “flower” on top and at the bottom (later on I decided to emboss the bottom one, and to cover up the top one with a shiny piece of chocolate wrapping).

 

Time for those lovely tulips! I heat embossed the stamp on the front and back and started painting (front) turkois around the tulips and “flower” so the tulips pop a little extra..at the back I only outlined the tulips with a charcoal pencil to make them pop a little more..

I made new holes in the pages and cover and found a matching piece of ribbon (my sister gave me because she knows those are my favorite colors ☺)  the pages are ready for some journalling!

....now time to choose wich one you like the most!

Hi,  welcome to Crew Member Wednesday. Today it's Karin's turn and she is sharing 2 beautiful cards that she created using some gel prints that she made for my  #31daysofgelprinting challenge! Hi, it's Karin here!

Because I’m participating in the #31daysofgelprinting by Birgit Koopsen on Instagram, I have already a huge pile of gelliprints.  Therefore I decided to use one of these as a background for the cards I wanted to make. I stamped the tulips and the large flower on other prints, cut them out and glued them on the backgrounds. Finally I applied the cards on black cardstock.

The end result is two Clean & Simple cards.

Hello Artists and welcome to another Crew Member Wednesday with me, Karen! I’m using my Gelli Plate today which I thought was very appropriate this month given Birgit’s great gelli print challenge that’s going on right now! I created these gelli prints on sticker paper and then stamped and cut out my own mixed media stickers, all ready to go into my own collage stash.

I’m working with Birgit's “Life is pretty awesome” stamp set and I even snuck in a Scribbled Feather too! As I was printing it gave me the perfect opportunity to work with her texture plate on the gelli plate, it really made the layers in my printing pop.

Crew Member Saturday With Andrea

It's Crew Member Saturday and I can't believe that we are already in March and having our 3rd guest designer post of the year! 

Today we have Andrea who has a bold and colourful style and uses lots of texture. If you don't know Andrea then click here to find the links to her beautiful and eye catching art!

I had an English professor who taught me to always carry a notebook with me for recording my thoughts and ideas.  This lesson has stuck, so I love making notebooks that reflect my love of words and art.  This is a store-bought notebook that I made a snazzy cover for.

I started by using the Background with Circles stamp.  I stamped and heat-embossed some circles onto white and black background paper, then colored in some of the circles with acrylic paint and added some scraps of Washi Tape.

Next I cut out the circles and some rectangular scraps.

With my accent pieces cut out, I started on my background.  I glued scraps of text paper to my cover page and rubbed white paint through the Triangle Mesh stencil.

When the paint dried, I stamped Balloon Flowers onto my page (very lightly- just enough to figure out the placement).  I added some Brushos watercolor crystals and spritzed the page with water.

I finished the page off by coloring the Balloon Flower lines with a Black Sharpie and gluing on the circles and rectangles.  I added some bright-colored smears of ink and paint.  When the paint dried, I sewed the cover to my notebook.
