Hi everyone! It's Crew Member Wednesday and today we have Karen who made a lovely card using tissue paper. You all know how much I love tissue paper, right?! And aren't those embroidered marks the coolest?! Love this!

Welcome everyone to another team Wednesday from me, Karen! I’m excited to share this tutorial today with you to give you some ideas to add some simple texture to your artwork. Adding in different paper weights and products can really help you to level up your creations.
I’m using a small watercolor postcard to create on this time. I find that when I’m feeling a bit meh about my creativity it can really help to work on a piece that’s not inside my journal. It shakes up my creative brain a bit and I come up with new ideas.
I’m using the Scribble Feather stamp set and I’m going to be stamping onto this lovely purple tissue paper that I saved from some packing. I’ve also pulled out my Prima watercolors, this is the decadent pies set and some scraps of book text and gelli printed tissue paper.
I started off by stamping my feather using Staz On in black. I used my water brush to go around the edge on the tissue paper and that way I can control where the tear is going to happen.
I spread some water onto the postcard and then just dropped in some water color to it and let it mix. Honestly I could do this all day, it’s so soothing and magical.
I played around with the placement of my papers until I was happy with them. I wanted to see quite a bit of the watercolor texture and still have the feather was the focal point. I just added glue (with a glue stick) to the middle part of the feather. I wanted to make sure that I kept some of the texture if the tissue paper lose to mimic the feel of a real feather.
For a final bit of interest I took some embroidery thread and added in some lines of stitches as the side. I think this just ties the whole piece together really nicely.
I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and you’re inspired to add in some stitches and textured layers into your own work. See you again soon!
