Crew Member Wednesday With Karin

Hello! It's crew member Wednesday and today we have Karin with a set of gorgeous tags! Love, love, love the colors!!

I got inspired by the beautiful colors of nature and the falling leafs and therefore I decided to create something with one of Birgit's gorgeous leaf stamps!

I started with a gelprint out of my stash and cut it into two tags.

Then I stamped them with the "leaf" stamp.

The next thing I did was stamping the "leaf" on a sheet of paper and I colored them with ecoline markers.

I cut them out and glued them on the already stamped images on the tags.

And as a final touch I added some splashes of gold ecoline.

Workshop Gel Printing In Mijn Studio - 22/23 Juni

Op vrijdag 22 en zaterdag 23 juni a.s. geef ik in mijn studio in Winsum (Gn.) een workshop gel printing technieken.

Tijdens deze workshop gaan we in een klein groepje (max. 9 deelnemers) aan de slag met een aantal technieken met misschien niet zo voor de hand liggende producten zoals stempelinkt, water-oplosbare krijtjes, oliekrijtjes en alcoholinkt. Ook leer je alle ins-and-outs van het transfer printen met tijdschriften en boeken en werk je met de nieuwste stencils en art printing plates van Carabelle Studio.

Je print op labels van 8x16cm waar je aan het eind van de dag een leuk tag albumpje van maakt.

Plaats: Winsum (Gn.)

Tijd: 10.00-17.00 uur

Prijs: € 72,50 inclusief alle materialen, koffie, thee, snacks en lunch.

Wat neem je mee? Helemaal niks! In mijn studio zijn alle materialen aanwezig die je nodig hebt :)

Hello! It's Crew Member Wednesday again!! Today Karen is sharing a beautiful mixed media tag with beautiful colors and I love that sunny yellow and her home made washi tape using my "I heart washi" stamp set!

Hi everyone! It’s time for another Crew Member Wednesday and this project sees me creating on a jumbo sized tag just to shake things up a bit and get outside of my Art Journal. Working on a different size or substrate is like taking a walk to get some fresh air for my creativity!

I made my own paper washi tape by using Birgit’s stamps and this time I tried stamping on top of some medial tape. The results were not quite what I was expecting but I loved the translucent effect anyway.

I also got to play with the art masks and I was going to fussy cut the leaves when I remembered I had my scan and cut! I traced the design and cut out my own leaves to use in black card stock.

 

I hope you enjoy watching my tutorial and you get inspired to try out a new size or item to get creative with!

Crew member Wednesday With Hermien

It's Crew Member Wednesday again and today Hermien is sharing some beautiful tags using bleach!!! I just love the colors!

Gift tags

..once in a while such tags come in handy, as an attachment to a bouquet or a self packed gift...So when I found four scraps of paper, they called out to become...

Unfortunately, or maybe not..the paper was a little thin, I used Brusho pigment powder and sprayed with water...It's always a surprise what happens! Took my new stampset by Birgit and embossed the lovely feathers (black embossingpowder).. then I bleached parts of the cards (ordinary bleach with a small brush - rinse well as soon as you are ready because bleach and brushes are not best friends ☺)

When dry  I distressed the paper edges and glued the scraps onto other scraps..and attached eyelets and a little rope.

Something Beautiful - Tag With Carabelle Studio

This tag is featuring 4 of my stamp sets for Carabelle Studio.

To create this tag I first stamped the “French Lily” stamp with green acrylic paint. To get a nice and even layer of paint on a rubber stamp you can use a brayer to apply it. First roll out some paint on a craft sheet and then roll over the stamp quickly.

Make sure to clean the stamp right after using it!

 

When the paint was dry I stamped the “Leafs” stamp in the top corner, the “Layered Strips” at the bottom and one of the “I Heart Washi Tape” stamps at the side using black Archival ink.

I also stamped a little leaf on a piece of cardstock and cut it out.

I colored in the stamps using ZIG Art & Graphic Twins and a water brush to blend the colors.

To create the flower I used a spirograph with a permanent pen on acetate, then I cut it out and added a piece of colored paper behind it.

Finally I stamped the quote (from the “French Lily” set) and splattered some drops of black Indian Ink on the tag.

Toronto And New York Workshops In September - Bizzy B's And The Ink Pad

I am thrilled and very excited that I will be teaching in Toronto and New York in September!!

First I will come to Bizzy B's in Toronto where I will teach the weekend of September 19-21.

You can join me for my Technique Tags class on Friday evening (9/21) from 6.30-10.00.

During this workshop you will create a couple of beautiful large tags but more important you will learn a variety of mixed media techniques using IZinks, gesso, modeling paste, embossing powders, stamps and stencils. Besides that you will learn how to heat emboss on adhesive foam sheets and add stunning texture to them plus the amazing things you can do with Shimmer Sheetz. The learned techniques can be used in all kinds of projects, whether it are scrapbook pages, cards, art journal pages, canvasses or mini albums. You will use IZinks for coloring, they are very versatile, are highly pigmented and have beautiful colors. Find out about the many ways that you can use IZinks to create colorful, textured and artsy projects.

 

 

On Saturday (9/20) I will be teaching my "For the Love of Layers" workshop. This is a whole day workshop which runs from 10.30 am until 4.30 pm.

In this class you will work with acrylic paint, stamps and stencils. You will learn how to build up a number of layers to create an interesting, playful and artsy look. You can choose your own favorite colors and create a painting in your own unique style.

When the rough work is done you will use Posca pens to add details and interest. Important part of this workshop is that you let go of control and go with the flow. You will start this project without thinking and just see where the colors and shapes take you. It might sound scary but you will experience how relaxed this way of working is!

 

Here are some examples of paintings made with the techniques used in this class.

 

 

 

 

The third workshop, "Embossing and Beyond" will be on Sunday (9/21) from 12.30-5.30 pm.

In this class you will create a little mini book filled with a variety of embossing techniques and more.

We will do layered embossing, multicolor embossing, embossing with stencils, a combination of dry and hot embossing and resist embossing. Besides that you will learn how to use transfer foil to add beautiful shine and color to your projects. With a different technique on every page you will learn to bring embossing to a higher level!

After this weekend I will fly to New York to spent a week with my sweet friend Nathalie Kalbach and I can't even begin to tell you how much I'm looking forward to that!! I know for sure that we will have an awesome week filled with laughter, chatting, walking, sightseeing.... 

 

At the end of the week Nathalie and I will teach our mini Art Fusion Event at The Ink Pad in NYC.

On Sunday September 28 we will both be teaching one class. You can join me in the morning for my "For the Love of Layers" class and then join Nathalie in the afternoon for her "Walk with Me; Altered Book" class.

Sharing Some Magazine Work

Wow! It's been ages that I blogged! 

After a wonderful, sunny, relaxing vacation in Greece I think it is time to pick this up and start fresh with blogging on a regular basis again. With regular I don't mean on a daily basis because I know I simply can't keep up with that. But on a weekly basis should be possible, maybe twice a week :)

So today I want to start with sharing some projects that have been published in Histoires de Pages and Scrap 365.

The first layout "Letting go..." was published in HdP. I created it when my sweet daugther was about to leave to Hawaii to live and study there for 6 months. The title comes from the song "let her go" from Passenger. Under the tag is some hidden journaling saying:

"Saying goodbye, now Anne is leaving for Hawaii for 6 months, is not easy! I will miss her so much! But I want her to make her dreams come true because I love her... so I let her go... I hope she will have the best time of her life!

Afterwards we realized that those 6 months went quicker than we expected. And Hawaii is not even that far away if you have Whatsapp and Facetime. Besides that I visited her after about 2,5 months, which made it better too. And she definitely did have the best time of her life! But is was sooo good to have her back home :D

The next layout "2 peas in a pod" was also made for Histoires de Pages. It was for an article about the impact color has. I made 2 exact the same layouts with different color schemes. I had to pick 2 colors + black and white. This is the first one using orange and green for a fresh and sunny spring feel. I will show the other one some other time.

The last project is a mini album I made for a recycle article in Scrap 365. For this mini I only used clothing tags and other items that can be collected from old cloths, like buttons, safety pins, straps and ribbon and so on. The only other items I used were a couple of wood veneer shapes, letter stickers (but most of the text was already on the tags and fitted the project perfectly). to create the little pocket I cut 2 pockets from an old pair of jeans and sewed them together, right sides facing each other and then turned it inside out.
